OIE Collaborating Centres for Food Safety held a webinar and hands-on training on food safety risk analysis for the OIE Members in Asia and Pacific region

School of Veterinary Medicine, Rakuno Gakuen University is designated as one of the OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health) Collaborating Centre consortium for Food Safety in Asia and Pacific, together with the Food Safety Research Center of the University of Tokyo and Singapore National Centre for Food Science. The OIE is intergovernmental organization for improvement of animal health.
On 31 May 2021, the OIE Collaborating Centre consortium for Food Safety in Asia and Pacific held a webinar on food safety risk analysis for the personnel of 37 OIE Member countries and territories in Asia and Pacific region, under the collaboration with the OIE Collaborating Centre in Europe (The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise, IZSAM, Italy), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and Addis Ababa University. Over 70 participants from 21 countries and territories attended the webinar.
From the next day, 1 June until 11 June, a hands-on technical training on risk assessment is being held by the OIE Collaborating Centre, led by Professor of Veterinary Epidemiology, Dr. Kohei Makita, and this course is contributing to networking OIE Members and improvement of food safety in Asia and Pacific region. Moreover, this training is held as one of the PhD course module in Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
