As part of the SATREPS project, “Co-designing Neglected Zoonosis Intervention through One Health, Education, and Public-private Partnership (OHEPP-SATREPS)”,two master’s students from Sokoine Agricultural University (Rose Matollah and Antonia Tesha), who are investigating contamination levels and antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the milk value chain in Morogoro State, underwent approximately three weeks of training at Rakuno Gakuen University.

Rose conducted drug resistance testing on E. coli derived from milk collected from dairy farms, milk collection centers, and milk shops in Morogoro State. Antonia analyzed the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at understanding the structure of the milk value chain and performed statistical analysis on its relationship to contamination levels.

On the final day of the training program, both participants gave presentations on their analysis results, followed by a lively discussion among the participants. Both achieved significant results and plan to work on writing their papers in the future.

During my stay, I also participated in a Japanese cultural experience, attending a tea ceremony and learning about Japanese culture through kimono dressing and tea ceremony practice.
